Power
There are two powertrain options available for the 2019 model year. The standard engine for the Outlander Sport is a MIVEC (the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-Timing Electronic Control) 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that generates up to 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission match for this engine is a five-speed manual transmission while a continuously variable automatic transmission is also available. Front-wheel-drive is the standard drivetrain configuration but you can opt for the available all-wheel-drive configuration. The EPA has estimated this engine can reach up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The second engine, found under the hood of the GT trim level, is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. This engine produces up to 168 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes outfitted with standard all-wheel drive and the EPA has estimated it can reach up to 28 miles per gallon on the highway. This engine only comes mated to the continuously variable automatic transmission, it mimics a standard transmission with "traditional" shift points.

Handling
Mitsubishi's All-Wheel Control system is able to continually monitor the road, intelligently transferring braking and power to the wheels for optimum traction. This system improves the overall performance and handling of the SUV without having to reduce the engine's efficiency. No matter where your adventure takes you, you can rely on the All-Wheel Control system to perform well whether the terrain is covered in gravel or snow. The Outlander Sport boasts 11.6 ventilated front brakes and 11.9 solid rear brakes for optimum braking performance. Enhancing these brakes are advanced technologies like Traction Control Logic, Active Stability Control, and four-channel Electronic Brake-Force Distribution with Brake Assist.
