Considering buying a used car but feeling a little unsure about the whole process? Well for starters take a deep breath, relax, and listen to our advice.

For starters, let us take a look at the advantages of buying a used vehicle versus a brand new vehicle. When opting for a pre-owned vehicle you will most likely face lower insurance cost. When your insurance company determines rates the value of the vehicle is normally the primary item they look at. The more expensive your vehicle is the more expensive the insurance is for it. With a used vehicle you'll also face cheaper registration fees in most states for the same reason.

Certified pre-owned vehicles and vehicle history reports have taken a lot of the worry out of shopping for a used car. Certified pre-owned vehicles meet a certain set of standards outlined by the manufacturer of the vehicle and usually come with some type of manufacturer warranty. Vehicle history reports are also a great way to check the integrity of the vehicle you are looking at. History reports will tell you how many owners the vehicle has had, if the vehicle has ever been in an accident, or if the vehicle is from a salvage yard.

Now that you're feeling a little more comfortable about purchasing a used car, why don't we go over some helpful tips on test driving a used vehicle.

For starters, take a walk around the exterior of the vehicle, make sure you like the way it looks. While you're inspecting the outside of the vehicle check for any dents or scratches, minor impurities can easily be fixed.

Once you're done looking around the exterior of the vehicle it's a good idea to give the interior a thorough look through. Make sure you check out the backseats just as well as you do the front. Look for the number of cup holders, USB ports, and storage areas. Make sure you pop open the truck and check out the amount of cargo space the vehicle has to offer. Do you have small kids with strollers? You'll want to make sure the stroller and everything else you may need will fit.

Now that you've been the vehicle a thorough look through it's finally time to hop into the drivers seat. Before you hit the road though you'll want to make sure it's comfortable. Was the vehicle easy to get into? Are the seats comfortable? Next, take a look at the infotainment system and make sure you like the way it's set up.

With everything looked over and all the technology checked out it's time to take your vehicle out onto the open road. You're going to want to make sure you take the vehicle up onto the highway. See how fast the vehicle accelerates and how it handles at highway speeds. Does it offer a smooth quiet ride or is there a lot of road noise? When you get off the highway see how the brakes feel and how the vehicle handles turns. If you can, take the vehicle out during inclement weather. It's always good to know how a vehicle will handle in situations like a rainstorm when the roads are slick.

Lastly, practice parking. Every single time you take your vehicle out you have to park it. So it's a good idea to see how you feel doing it, specially if the vehicle is larger in size than your last one. Practice parallel parking and perpendicular parking and reversing out of parking spots.
