The 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a stand out on the CUV market, bringing in comfortable interiors with a crisp exterior design that looks good and stands out. The powertrain Mitsubishi brings in does the job and transfers power well throughout each of the systems of the CUV to give a responsive performance. The Eclipse Cross comes in one of four trim models, each with its own set for features with a nice steady progression that represents the respective cost.Â
Eclipse Cross ES Trim
Coming off the assembly line as the stock model, the Eclipse Cross ES is packed with features that are brought in each other trim level. This model sets a strong baseline starting point of the Eclipse Cross experience, with key features that enhance comfort and convenience such as audio system controls housed on the steering wheel, remote keyless entry, a tilt/telescoping steering column, automatic climate control, and one-touch powered windows. The Eclipse Cross also comes standard with an infotainment system on a 7-inch screen display with USB ports, a four-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Mitsubishi also works in a great number of features to help establish visibility, with smart variable intermittent windshield wipers that adjust the rate based on speed, a rearview camera to help while backing up, and LED foglights as well as LED taillights and daytime running lights. Key safety features we see being brought in with the Eclipse Cross include an active stability control system, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution technology, hill-start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Eclipse Cross LE Trim
The LE trim is the second trim level offered with the Eclipse Cross, adding on more features that enhance the comfort and convenience of the driving experience. The infotainment receives some extra attention, adding in smartphone integration with APpleCarPlay and Android Auto as well as voice recognition controls, additional USB ports, and a three-year SiriusXM trial. We also see exterior color elements brought in as well as larger 18-inch wheels being brought in, that tote all-season tires. The interior of the CUV also has heated seats added in and a convenient touchpad controller for the infotainment system.
Eclipse Cross SE Trim
The Eclipse Cross SE uniquely distinguishes itself from previous trim levels with various silver-garnishes on the bumpers and doors, leather-wrapped shift-knob and steering wheel, and a high-grade seating fabric brought to the interior. The climate control receives a dual-zone improvement, allowing for the temperature to be maintained between two separate areas at the same time. The push-button start allows for easy engine activation while the sound system receives two additional speakers for a higher audio quality experience. We also see further incorporation of driver-assist technologies brought in such as a forward collision mitigation system that utilizes sensors to detect an oncoming collision and apply emergency brakes in advance, a blind-spot monitoring system that utilizes rear-cross path detection and lane change assistance, and a convenient automatic high-beam activation system. The Eclipse Cross SE comes optionally with a power-operated panoramic sunroof and roof-rails for extra storage capacity.
Eclipse Cross SEL Trim
The SEL trim is the highest level trim that is offered with the Eclipse Cross CUV; the SEL trim adds in a few additional features on top of all of the previous features brought in the other trim models. Some of the key features that catch our eye immediate are an eight-way power-adjustable seating with comfortable leather upholstery, LED low-beam and high-beam headlights, and a multi-view camera system allowing for extra vision around the car when backing up or parking. The SEL trim also comes optional with heated rear seats and steering wheel as well as a few other optional features.
The 2020 Eclipse Cross is a standout CUV on today's market, with great powertrain and exterior structure. Mitsubishi has built-in an impressive layering of features throughout the various trim models of the CUV that establish a nice progression of luxury.
